What is “People Patching”?

We selected the word “Patching” because it has multiple great meanings. We patch broken things, in communications we “patch people in,” so they can exchange information, and we correct or update software with a patch. As human beings, there are times we all need those same things. We benefit from advice, guidance, ideas, mentorship, sounding boards, qualified experience shares, and sometimes just the exchange of information between two peers. As professionals in the control system cyber security industry, all of us from time to time would like to talk with a specific person about something. Further, sometimes we need that to be confidential, or at least not with our work colleagues. Yes, a person may like to seek a mentor in the form of a more senior member of our community, but equally an industry leader might just want to ask another industry leader about the realities of a specific product implementation.
