PUBLISHED

As of:

September 2024

Region(s):

USA

Body:

US Gov (Executive Order 14028)

Applicable to:

Consumer IoT products, General, Consumer/Retail

Summary:

FCC and NIST have partnered on a voluntary program to label Internet of Things (IoT) products with a U.S. Cyber Trust Mark an indication that these products meet baseline cybersecurity criteria. NIST developed criteria for the program based on NIST report 8425, published in September of 2022. FCC allows manufactures to display the mark on products that pass a review process ensuring the product meets criteria. The label includes the mark and a QR code that links to a public registry with more detailed information about the product's cybersecurity including where to locate security updates and software patches.
